Strini Pillai, South Africa’s Singing Chef enjoyed the first ‘Marang House Seafood Platter’ at Alex Del Mar this afternoon. The popular Northcliff restaurant added the seafood platter to its already extensive menu to raise funds for the seriously ill children of Marang House.
Alex Del Mar owner Alex Sourmenidis explains “We have created an exclusive platter of which the proceeds will be donated to Marang House. We will also make our patrons aware of this opportunity, thereby creating awareness for the wonderful work that Marang House does for the community”
Alex also experienced what it’s like to suffer from kidney problems and continues: “I wanted to give something back to the community and when I found out that Marang House is not only around the corner, but also cares for children suffering from kidney diseases, the decision to become actively involved was quickly made”
Pieter Ernst Jr, Executive Director of Marang House: “This is quite an exciting campaign as it allows the community surrounding Marang House to support us in yet another way. Marang House relies heavily on the support of the community and we are very thankful that Alex Del Mar has come up with this campaign”
Pieter continues “Strini Pillai has been involved with Marang House for a while, for which we are very grateful, and since he presents a cooking show, he was the obvious choice to have the honour of enjoying the first ever Marang House Seafood Platter”.
The “Marang House Seafood Platter” is exclusively available at Alex Del Mar from 28 April 2009 until the end of May 2009. The platter, which includes prawns, mussels, hake, calamari, chips and rice, will cost R89,-. For reservations or directions, please phone 011 6784790.
